Corporal Ben Mewis ran from the east side of Houston to Downtown Austin. It was nearly 200 miles. Although he is a passionate runner who has attempted similar challenges before, this time he did it for a special cause.
“For me, specifically, the hardest calls that I take have to do with children involved as victims," Mewis said to KXAN. Through a digital fundraising campaign, he has raised more than $3,300 for children served by CASA who have experienced abuse or neglect.
Mewis was accompanied by fellow officer Scott Baldrige, both with the Austin Police Department. On behalf of the entire community of CASA: Thank you, officers!
